It’s about that time! Time to start getting ready to go back to school at Craig Ranch. Between back to school events, tax free weekend and school supply lists, here are some things to help you and your kids get ready to go back to school at Frisco ISD and Allen ISD.

Fill the Bus with Allen ISD

It’s a sad truth, but many families don’t have the financial ability to get all the needed school supplies, and that financial stress is multiplied when they have more than one school-age child. To help these families, Allen Community Outreach has their Fill the Bus school supply drive, which benefits Allen ISD students in need by providing all their school supplies. They are accepting donations through Tuesday, August 7.

Allen ISD School Supplies

Since a portion of our master-planned community feeds into Allen ISD, students living in these neighborhoods attend Lindsey Elementary School, Curtis Middle School, Lowery Freshman Center and Allen High School. Here’s the school supply list for Lindsey Elementary. For Curtis Middle School, parents simply pay a $30 supply fee, and Allen ISD will take care of their school supplies, except for pens, pencils and paper. As for the Freshman Center and Allen High, students only need to bring a pen, pencil and paper and they will be informed by their teachers what supplies are needed for each class.

The first day of school for Allen ISD is Wednesday, August 15.

Back-to-School Bash with Frisco ISD

For our Frisco ISD students, get ready to celebrate the new school year with the Back-to-School Bash on Saturday, August 11. This back to school event will take place at the Career and Technical Education Center from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Aside from fun activities, prizes and giveaways, there will also be free immunizations and vision screening for Frisco ISD students.

Frisco ISD School Supplies

Now, with most of our master-planned community feeding into Frisco ISD, there are different Frisco schools they may attend. The schools students living in Craig Ranch attend are Ogle Elementary School, Comstock Elementary School, Isbell Elementary School, Elliot Elementary School, Lawler Middle School, Scoggins Middle School, Vandeventer Middle School, Liberty High School and Independence High School. Visit each school’s website for a list of the school supplies your child will need.

The first day of school for Frisco ISD is Thursday, August 16.

Tax Free Weekend

Want to make sure you save as much as you can on school supplies? Make sure you get them during Texas’ Tax Free Weekend, Friday, August 10 – Sunday, August 12. That means you’ve got just one more week to get all your shopping lists together if you want to get school supplies without having Uncle Sam trying to take his cut.

We know your kids may not be ready to go back to school yet, but we certainly are excited for school to start back up! How do you prepare for going back to school at Craig Ranch in McKinney, TX? We’d love to know what your strategy is for getting all your little pupils ready to go back to class. Home Maintenance Tricks That Will Save You Money This Summer

by crblog - July 26th, 2018

home maintenance tricks, master-planned community, Craig Ranch McKinney TX, active living, McKinney events, dream homes near McKinney, new homes McKinney, home savings tip, tips to save money this summer

Looking to cut costs around the house and keep cool this summer? With one of the hottest summers we’ve had in Texas, Craig Ranch is here to provide you with some home maintenance tips and tricks to lighten the load on your wallet while also helping you keep cool!

Set Your Ceiling Fans

This home savings tip might surprise you: ceiling fans can spin in two different directions! When your ceiling fan doesn’t seem to be effectively cooling the room down, it might be spinning the wrong way. During the summer, you’ll want to make sure your fan spins counterclockwise, causing the air to be pushed down, ultimately helping to cool you off. Something as simple as this can help save on air conditioning costs.

Window Treatments

Sunlight that seeps into your home through open windows can heat the indoor air significantly. This forces your air conditioner to work even harder than it has to so you can stay cool. To make sure your home stays as cool as possible, invest in blinds or blackout curtains and close them to help your home maintain a cool temperature during times of peak heat.

Clean appliances

One of the lesser known tips to save money this summer is cleaning the dust and debris out of the vents and grates of your appliances. This small task will help them perform better and more efficiently, which helps cut costs. Appliances you should regularly clean out include your dishwasher, refrigerator and washing machine!

Change AC Filters

Normally, you should change your AC filters every 2-3 months. However, the extreme Texas heat makes your air conditioner work much harder, so filters should be changed every month during the summer. If you do this, you can ensure your air filter is working at 100%, avoiding a higher bill.

Change Your Light Bulbs

The easiest way to save money AND energy is to make the switch from traditional light bulbs to energy-efficient LED light bulbs. LED bulbs can cut your electricity bill down drastically and will last much longer than the traditional bulbs.

Saving money on bills during the summer isn’t as difficult as it may seem! These easy home savings tips can cut down your summer costs drastically and, most importantly, keep you cool!

Not too long ago, Waco wasn’t really on anyone’s radar, especially when it came to fun day trips near DFW. However, over the last few years, there’s been a major revival thanks to the hit television series Fixer Upper. This little college town has now become a great tourist destination as people flock to Chip and Joanna Gaines’ popular Magnolia Market at the Silos, the Dr. Pepper Museum and the historic Hippodrome Theater.

Glen Rose

You’ve probably taken your kiddos to see the massive dinosaur skeletons at The Perot Museum, but if you take a trip to Glen Rose, you’ll get to see where they once roamed. Head out to Dinosaur Valley State Park, just outside of Glen Rose, and play archeologist for a day! This beautiful park also offers so much more than dino bones; other activities include hiking trails, wildlife watching, and swimming and fishing in Paluxy River.

Pilot Point

Considered one of Denton County’s best hidden gems, Pilot Point is a perfect remedy for a boring summer day. Start exploring the town by checking out the Farmer’s and Merchant’s Gallery, which is a collection of art and antiques housed in a former bank building that was used in Bonnie & Clyde. There are also plenty of other fun things to do near Craig Ranch in Pilot Point like going swimming in Lake Ray Roberts or getting a delicious fried pie from Old West Coffee Café.

While these are just three fun summer day trip ideas, we’d love to hear about the family-friendly activities near McKinney that your family loves to do during the summer! Realtor Tips to Closing on Your Home Before Summer Ends

by crblog - June 28th, 2018

(Image via

Congrats! You’ve found your dream home at Craig Ranch, but you have a lot to do before the house is officially yours. Did you know the average closing time is around 50 days for a pre-owned home and build times for new construction homes can range from about 5 – 8 months right now in North Texas? If you’re looking to close on your dream home at Craig Ranch before summer or this year ends, check out these realtor tips from to stay on track!

Getting Financed

As with any large investment, the loan approval process takes a decent amount of time to complete. It can take up to 45 days to obtain a mortgage from start to finish, so if you want to speed up the closing process on a home at Craig Ranch, it helps to get a pre-approval letter from a lender that clearly states how much you are qualified for. This allows you to see what you are able to afford and shows the seller that you’re a qualified buyer.

Home Inspections

Unfortunately, home inspections can eat up as much as 15 days of the closing timeframe, but they are necessary for you to obtain before closing on your home. Try to schedule your inspection ahead of time to speed up the process and be present for your new home inspection. Being present can ensure that all inspection tasks are finalized before you close and help you learn all about your new home at Craig Ranch in McKinney, TX.

Titles and Securing Insurance

Be sure to budget extra time for any unforeseen issues. Some title roadblocks may arise during your closing, like a tax lien or a loan that was mistakenly recorded to the property’s address. If you have time allotted for these unforeseen hold-ups, you will stay on track toward your closing date. Or you can opt for a new construction home by one of our top McKinney homebuilders to be sure that a previous owner’s records won’t affect your new home purchase! Most new home builders keep inventory homes that are available much sooner than a build-to-suit home if you need to get into your new home before school starts!

Finally, as a homeowner, you are required to secure homeowner’s insurance for your new home. This can be done while the closing process is taking place, so make sure you have all the necessary insurance before the day of closing!
