It’s almost that time of year again – the State Fair of Texas is just around the corner and it will be celebrating its 131st birthday! Between all the food, live music and a good-time attitude, the State Fair of Texas is hands down one of the most fun things to do near McKinney. Today, Craig Ranch in McKinney, TX is giving our readers a little sneak peek into what you can expect to see at the State Fair of Texas. So strap on your boots, opening day is Friday, September 29 in historic Fair Park!

State Fair of Texas 2017 Theme

Every year the State Fair of Texas has a theme, and this year it’s “celebrating Texans!” While the State Fair isn’t exactly bashful about celebrating Texas every year, this year its sole focus will be on the lesser known details that make Texas different from the rest of the United States, including an exhibit about “Texas in the First World War.”

Most Anticipated Foods

If there’s one thing that the State Fair of Texas is known for, it’s the food! Every year it seems like some new crazy concoction is being deep fried and devoured by the masses, and frankly, we can’t wait! Some of the food that we’re most excited here at Craig Ranch in McKinney, TX is Fernie’s Fried Texas Sheet Cake, the Funnel Cake Bacon Queso Burger, Surfin-Turfin-Tator Boat and The Tamale Doughnut!

Most Anticipated Attractions

For those who don’t consider food the fair’s main attraction, the State Fair of Texas can be as much of an educational experience as it can be a fun one. Since 2017 marks 100 years since America entered into World War I, there will be exhibits on “Texas in the First World War” and “America and World War I.”

We hope you’re as pumped about the State Fair of Texas as we are – now is the time to start getting your tickets! The next time you’re trying to think about things to do near McKinney from September 29 to October 22, just remember the State Fair of Texas.
