summer tips

Few things are better on a hot summer day than being able to go out to your backyard for a refreshing dip. Having a pool all to yourself is amazing, but it can be a tough and fairly costly chore. That’s why today, we’re sharing some summer tips for maintaining your pool on a budget.

Buy Chemicals in Bulk

Just like with anything, it’s always easier and cheaper to buy in bulk. Yes, the initial investment will be greater, but you’ll save a lot of money in the long run. Many pool care and chemical stores will run deals during the early season. Seeing as we’re already well into summer, your best bet is to still buy your chemicals in bulk.

Shock Your Pool Weekly

If your kids are bringing all their friends over and you constantly have people in your pool, then you’ll definitely want to add shock on a weekly basis. Adding a bag or two of shock every week is much cheaper than if you skip a week and then have to triple the amount of shock the next week just get your pool to be clear again. For the best results, you’ll want to shock your pool in the evening after the sun has already gone down.

Cover Your Pool to Limit Evaporation

A pool cover may seem like an unnecessary expense, but with Texas summers easily reaching triple digits some days, the water in your pool can quickly start to evaporate. By simply covering your pool in Craig Ranch whenever it isn’t in use, you could potentially save hundreds, if not thousands, of gallons of water that you would’ve used to refill your pool.
