1. Tell us about yourself:

I’m originally from New Orleans, LA. I lived in north Louisiana for college and post-Katrina until my house flooded and became unlivable. I have traveled all over the USA for work, and lived in places like Alaska. This is my first time living in Texas, but I have visited the area often and am thrilled to join many friends who live in the DFW area, including here in McKinney.

I have been an advocate for the arts and a performer for most of my life. I have danced with a professional ballet company since I was 6 and still perform in the Nutcracker each year. In middle and high school I was a part of 6 choirs at one time, two of which recorded CDs. I have choreographed for and performed with several Musical theatre production companies. In college I traveled with both an improvisational comedy troupe and a Shakespearean troupe.

I pride myself on being a Southern girl and have enjoyed experiences ranging from being crowned in pageants to shooting guns with my dad. Being born and raised in New Orleans means I have a healthy appreciation for all things culinary and celebratory. I love, love, love to cook, especially for friends, and as a former bartender, I like making craft cocktails.

I also enjoy volunteering, traveling, reading, being outdoors and anything to do with the water, whether it’s surfing, boating, fishing or being at the beach.

2. What is your favorite thing about working at Craig Ranch?

I was most drawn to the Lifestyle Director position because I saw it as an opportunity to once again work in a position that connects me to the community I serve. Two of my previous positions have included working as the Executive Coordinator for a mayor and as a Tour Director for Royal Caribbean. While these positions are vastly different in their execution, they were ultimately about engaging the public and caring for the happiness of others, whether they were our residents or tour guests.

I am ready to make connections with the residents of Craig Ranch as I expand and execute the Lifestyle program.  Craig Ranch is an established community with several different and growing neighborhoods. The diversity of our residents lends itself to a diverse Lifestyle program and that’s exciting for me.

We have a pretty new but certainly spectacular staff at CRCA. It has been so nice getting to know them as my first few weeks have flown by. There is a buzz about the office as we grow more cohesive each day. This is an enthusiastic group of men and women, dedicated to making Craig Ranch shine, who smile and laugh through each day; what could be better than being part of this team!

3. What has been your favorite community event so far?

Having just started June 30, I have only had one large Craig Ranch event so far, but it was a blast! It was interesting and a bit challenging to come in on a Tuesday and run my first event on the following Saturday! The Beach was a fantastic venue for this Craig Ranch event and I hope to hold future events there after the positive feedback it received. Susan (from The Beach) was a pleasure to work with. The weather was breezy and pleasant when the sun began to dip. The band was fun and the kid activities were a HIT! The best part for me was greeting the smiling faces of the Craig Ranch residents who attended and seeing the fun in the eyes of the children as they giggled with painted faces! I think for all in attendance the best part was Mr. Craig’s generous and beautiful fireworks display. We had perfect seats at The Beach and the radio broadcast could be heard over the venue speakers. Truly magical!

4. Which event are you most excited about this year?

I have so many events swirling around in my brain, I think I have to take them one day at a time. J I’m very keen on the back to school event I have in the works (Splash into School) and am working to turn all my ideas into realities. The popular Fall Fest and Winter Fest will make appearances again this year and, from what I’ve been told, they are hits. I am eager to see the turn out for those.

5. What do you think sets Craig Ranch apart from other McKinney communities?

The “lush grounds and friendly neighbors” vision David Craig established for Craig Ranch presents itself in each of the beautiful, welcoming neighborhoods of the community. To me, though, it’s the dedication to this area and the City of McKinney that truly sets Craig Ranch apart. While most communities are part of a company with a portfolio dedicated to many areas of the United States, Craig Ranch is emblazoned into the heart of Collin County, exclusively. Craig Ranch continues to grow all the time with growth focused on the residents of the community and the people around us. Like the 4th of July fireworks for all of the area to enjoy; it seems Craig Ranch embraces this area of North Texas like no other community.

6. Which Craig Ranch amenity is your favorite?

So far, I would have to choose The Beach because we had the 4th of July event there and it was so much fun. However, I am thrilled to learn about and experience all of the amenities!

7. What is the funniest moment you’ve had a Craig Ranch so far?

Everyday is full of laughter here! There is a sign outside my office that reads “Let Laughter Happen” and it truly does in our office. Even as work piles up or residents come to us with concerns, our team keeps a positive outlook and finds ways to put smiles on each other’s faces.

8. What would you tell someone who is considering moving to Craig Ranch?

First, good choice! If you’re new to the area, like me, there is ton of stuff to do from shopping in next-door Plano to a cute little restaurant experience in downtown McKinney. Then I would tell them to find out as much as they can about the various neighborhoods within Craig Ranch to choose the one that fits you best. Lastly, get to the CRCA office and pick up your Community or Pool card so that you will have easy access to our next Lifestyle event!
