The cold weather months are here, but they won’t be around much longer! Soon spring will be in FULL bloom in McKinney, TX! Here are a few simple tips for preparing your McKinney home and garden for the warmer months ahead:

1. Seal up spaces

Spring in Texas often leads to storms and spring showers. Prevent any leaks or potential roof damage before problems arise by using a flashlight to make sure everything is tightly sealed. If something looks loose, use silicone or caulking to fill the gaps.

2. Trim the trees

The coming season is known for constant weather changes, which can contribute to severe storms. Prune any large shrubs and tree branches away from your McKinney home so if a storm does hit, loose limbs and branches won’t land on your house or power lines.

3. Embrace the rain

Remove any debris from your drains and gutters that was collected over the winter months. This will ensure that water flows freely off your roof and away from your home. If your family’s home has any downspouts, check to make sure they are all draining away from your foundation. If they aren’t, add an extension.

4. Inspect the AC

Lastly, check your air conditioning unit to make sure it’s working properly. Soon you will be swapping out the heat from your furnace for cool air. If you wait to check it until the first hot day hits, you may encounter a problem.
